Can you discover the verb?

Every Tuesday morning, Gisele hides a Portuguese verb. To find it, you ask questions using a made-up verb — tibitar. She answers in rich, contextual Portuguese. You read the clues, make your guess, and earn points. It's a game, a lesson, and a community moment — all at once.

The verb is revealed at Wednesday's class. The cycle begins again.

Two ways to practice

Show up in person on Wednesdays, or deepen your practice with a 1:1 online session. Both are free.

Presencial · In-person

Wednesday morning at Guria Café

We meet in the open-air garden of Guria Café — an informal, multicultural space in central Braga. Each session has a theme: a song, a poem, a card game. You practice Portuguese and English through real conversation.

All levels welcome, from complete beginners who just listen and smile, to intermediate speakers ready to debate.

Online · 1:1 Tandem

A community of language exchange partners

The tandem program connects non-Portuguese speakers from the Let's FALAR community with native Portuguese speakers who want to practice English — or another language.

Each session is 50 minutes: 25 minutes in Portuguese, 25 minutes in English. Both sides learn. Both sides give. That's the tandem spirit.

Gisele personally reviews every application, makes each match, and supports the first sessions with a light methodology. After that, partners are free to continue at their own pace.

Always free. Always human. No algorithm decides your match.

Metodologia · Methodology

Teaching language through culture

Inspired by Paulo Freire's pedagogy: language is learned through meaningful human experience, not memorisation.

🎵

Music & lyrics

We learn grammar through songs — from Toquinho to contemporary Portuguese artists.

🎭

Theatre & storytelling

Reading plays aloud, acting out scenes. Language becomes movement and emotion.

🃏

Card games

Unexpected questions that make everyone speak — and laugh — in Portuguese.

🧩

Verb games

Tibitar: the weekly game that teaches conjugation through creative questioning.

📖

Books & poetry

Discovering the richness of lusophone literature — from Portugal, Brazil, and beyond.

🤲

Safe space to fail

Mistakes are welcome here. Confidence grows when there's zero pressure to be perfect.

"I realised that teaching a language has less to do with grammar and more to do with belonging."
— Gisele Knust, founder of Let's FALAR
